In 2005, more than 100 Palestinian civil society organizations called for “international civil society organizations and people of conscience all over the world to impose broad boycotts and implement divestment initiatives against Israel similar to those applied to South Africa in the apartheid era … for the sake of justice and genuine peace.”
Since then, scores of organizations worldwide have answered their call.

Churches
The Presbyterian Church, which claims over 3 million members in the US, is at the forefront of the international Israeli Arms divestment campaign.
The United Methodist Church has begun divesting from 20 corporations that profit from the Israeli occupation of the West Bank.
The World Council of Churches—a fellowship of 349 churches in over 110 countries—endorses divestment of Israeli arms dealers.
